Special Olympics Golf

Thanks to The PGA of America’s request to Special Olympics International in 1988, golf is now an official Special Olympics Sport, with more than 8,000 athletes competing annually. The PGA Foundation makes annual grants to the organization for the golf program and contributes additional funding to the Special Olympics Golf National Invitational Tournament. Many of the PGA’s members volunteer countless hours to support this program. The PGA was also responsible for developing the Sports Skill Guide in order to make golf a Special Olympics event. This publication is available through the Special Olympics national office for chapter use across the country.
